The Haptik Library - a Component based Architecture for Haptic Devices Access
نویسندگان
چکیده
Haptik is a component based library recently developed at the University of Siena. It allows easy but powerful low-level access to haptic devices, both in a uniform way, common to all devices, or in a more specialized one. Haptik addresses haptic device access. It is non-invasive and easily usable with existing applications. Its architecture guarantees a binary compatibility of applications with future versions of devices, library and plugins, still maintaining the maximum performance achievable directly with devices SDKs. The library is freely downloadable at http://sirslab.dii.unisi.it/haptic/haptik.htm

Software Architecture for Audio and Haptic Rendering Based on a Physical Model
This paper describes a software architecture solution for rendering audio and haptic sensation. By most of existing 3D sound systems, it is difficult to generate appropriate sounds from virtual objects, depending on the material used and the location of the impact. We developed a method that we named AudioHaptics to generate audio and haptic sensation based on a physical model of the virtual ob...
متن کاملBased Haptic Rendering and the Protocol
Since haptic rendering requires at least 1 kHz device control latency to obtain high haptic fidelity, haptic rendering process must be separated from others in realtime virtual reality system with haptic/force feedback. Feature-Based Haptic Rendering gives process architecture for load balancing. Haptic rendering is done based on features using feature library. Feature is local haptic character...
متن کاملA Haptic-Enabled Multimodal Interface and Framework for Preoperative Planning of Total Hip Arthroplasty
ultimodal environments seek to create computational scenarios that fuse sensory data (sight, sound, touch, and perhaps smell) to form an advanced, realistic, and intuitive user interface. This can be particularly compelling in medical applications, where surgeons use a range of sensory motor cues.1-4 Sample applications include simulators, education and training, surgical planning, and scientif...
متن کاملOpen Software Platform for Haptic Interaction
─Based on an analysis of the features of current software for haptic interaction, an extensible software for highly flexible and reconfigurable systems called the open software platform for haptic interaction (OPHI) is presented. The OPHI serves a wide range of functions, including the control of hardware devices and the execution of complicated application programs. Based on general software a...
متن کاملCyberGrasp and PHANTOM Integration: Enhanced Haptic Access for Visually Impaired Users
This paper presents a haptic virtual reality tool developed to enhance the accessibility for the visually impaired. The proposed approach focuses on the development of a highly interactive haptic virtual reality system that allows visually impaired, to study and interact with various virtual objects in specially designed virtual environments. The system is based on the use of the CyberGraspTM a...
